From time to time I like to share with you things that I read that bless me. This morning I was reading in the book, A Closer Look at the Evidence, by Richard and Tina Kleiss, and was again reminded of the fingerprint of God all over His creation.
All of us have cut ourselves, right? Maybe shaving, or a fall, sometimes a serious accident. Most of us know that our bodies stop the bleeding by clotting. But, did you know that when your blood clots it does so through a process involving more than twenty distinct individual chemical reactions? As the Kleiss’ say, “Omitting even one of these twenty sequential chemical reactions, inserting an unwanted step, or altering the timing of a step would result in death. If even one reaction is missing, all of the other marvelous steps that had previously performed flawlessly would be in vain.”
Microbiologist, Michael Behe, in his book, Darwin’s Black Box refers to these types of long sequence of reactions as “an irreducibly complex process.” Think of it, if just one of the steps, or chemical reactions is out of place, the whole complex system fails and the person (Or animal) bleeds to death.
That means that it would be impossible for these reactions to have developed individually. As the Kleiss’ put it, the chemicals and reactions would have “had to have been created as an intricate, highly integrated unit from the very beginning.”
Even the pricking of your finger shows the amazing complexity, design, and power of the one true God!
Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. (Psalm 111:2)
