And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them. But Jesus called for them, saying, ‘Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.’ (Luke 18:15-17)
Children have an amazing ability to learn. I think we still have that ability when we’re older, but the pull of the world, the busyness of the world, and our responsibilities in the world hinder either our desire or our time to learn. As adults we really have to be disciplined to push ourselves to keep learning, keep growing in knowledge.
Plus, everything is new to children. They seem to soak up information and experiences like a sponge. Who hasn’t had your child repeat something you said, that you wish they hadn’t heard you say? Of course, that puts a lot of responsibility on the parents to guide, instruct, and control the information our children receive.
I’m grateful that parents can bring their children to Cross Culture Church and know that their children are going to receive the truth of God’s Word through our Cross Culture Kids Ministry. Finding creative ways to engage children’s minds is always a challenge, and Coral and her team do a great job! If you’re not serving anywhere right now at Cross Culture on Sundays, why not consider investing in children’s lives through Cross Culture Kids?
Of course, now that it’s December we’re in full Christmas mode, and our children are taking the opportunity to teach us. This Sunday, in addition to our Sunday worship and preaching, Cross Culture Kids will be presenting a Christmas Special. Please make plans to attend this Sunday. The children, and adults who minister to our children, have put a lot of work into this. Most importantly, God is glorified when we seek to be in His house, worshipping Him.
The Christmas story is one we’ve probably all heard before, many times. But, our children will be presenting it in a fresh new way. After all, we’re never too old to learn something new.
