This past weekend, on the eve of Passover, a 73 year-old white supremacist opened fire outside of two Jewish community centers in Overland Park, KS murdering three people. This man had been spewing his hatred for Jewish people for years.
The loss and tragedy for the families of the victims of this senseless act is incomprehensible. But adding to this pure act of evil is the fact that in several of the pictures I have seen of the perpetrator he has been wearing a cap or beret with a cross clearly visible on it.
That someone can do something like this is sickening. That they can do it and associate the cross of Christ with it must truly break the heart of God. Jesus’ death was to bring eternal life to any man or woman who would place their faith in His finished work on the cross. A person’s ethnicity, nationality or skin color has no bearing on Christ’s sacrifice.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Perhaps where you work this week someone will mention this tragedy. Take time to explain to them that the beliefs of that man and the organizations he has been a part of are contrary to and condemned by the word of God. Remind them that Jesus, a Jew, laid down His life so that Jew or Gentile could experience real life.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
